Weaving on my Ashford Floor Loom
Aaaaah, the lovely ASMR sounds of a loud hand weaving floor loom ;)I do get a lot of comments about how relaxing it is to watch me weave. But would you say that if you knew how LOUD my floor loom is? I would try to throw some oil in there, but I have NO IDEA where the squeaks are coming from!!Tell me, weaver friends - is your loom as loud as mine???
What's on my loom?
What’s on my loom?Wowser, I haven’t had these in stock for a LONG time! I have woven them as ‘Made To Order’ scarves, but not as stock for the shop :OWith Bowerbird coming up, I need to make sure all my Dapper colours are back in stock - and they are fun to weave! You can find the Dappers, and the Made To Order listing on my website :D
SLEY THE REED!
I know, I know … the actual process of ‘sleying the reed’ isn’t as cool or sexy as it sounds, right??But it is what it is … basically, threading the warp threads through the reed to space them out evenly ;)I use a reed on my floor loom when I weave my scarves - but some fancy tapestry looms have reeds as well (not mine, mine are more basic!)OK, thanks for coming to my educational Ted talk, lol! :D
Nearly finished this tapestry!
I’m nearly there!I brought this loom home so I can work on this tapestry DAY AND NIGHT!Well, maybe not every day, but pretty much every night, haha!Though because I’m using the entire height of this loom, the warp is getting pretty tight … but y’know, if my fingers don’t bleed, I’m not working hard enough *I can’t wait to show you this one - it’s the first time I’ve woven on the side since my very first tapestry in 2012 :O
Unicorn Fairy Bread Cravat!
Isn’t this DELICIOUS??Yes, it’s the ‘Unicorn’ Fairy Bread colourway made into a Cravat - droooooool! It’s so soft, and perfect for Spring, as the days are lovely, but the evenings are still a bit cool :DYou can find it (as well as other colours and designs) HERE on my website!
