Hand woven tapestry
This was the first in my Theatre Of The Grotesque series, in which I explore my childhood trauma through a series of vintage illustrations/photos - this one is from a cataract operation from the 19th century :O
In this first piece I didn’t use text, as at the time I thought using text was far too obvious … though, to be honest, this means my messaging was way too vague. Saying that, I still really love this tapestry, as confronting as the imagery is.
Massive thanks to Josh Juett for the photo - I’ve never invested in proper photos of my pieces, so I think this year I need to really get this done for all my artwork :D
